MG TD TF 1500 - shock absorber bracket ?
What is the use of this second bracket on the TD rear axle, front side ? The girling shock absorber that is fitted on my car is linked to a bottom plate under the springs. Is it for the amstrong ones ? Laurent. ![]() |

Laurent That bracket is for use on one of the other cars that shared the same axle. I can't remember which car it is. Steve |

I believe that tab was used on the MGYB model for mounting the shock link. PJ![]() |

Hi Paul, I think your picture shows a YA axle which is more like TC set up than a TD - the one in your picture is a banjo type axle. The Worseley 4/44 used the same axle as found on a TD but is about 1.5" wider. I think those lugs are for the 4/44 shocks. Hugh Pite |

Thanks Hugh, I never even looked to see that it was a banjo, poor photo and just looked at the position of the lugs. First MG I've seen with an under-slung frame, were many of the sedan types like that? PJ |

The fuel tank and the Panhard rod are a dead give-away. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |
