MG TD TF 1500 - Shorrock supercharger manifolds

Does any one have any manifolds to fit a Shorrock to a XPAG, or know of any one who produced castings?
Rod Brayshaw

I have a Shorrock with the manifold. Haven't looked at it in a while so I'll have to check out what is there. I'm pretty sure there's no carb.

I have both the intake manifold and the carb runner. Both are rather small and simple.
JIM N

Rod,
Are you in need of the carb mount also?

I sent an email to an aluminum foundry nearby inquiring about replicating them. They do prototype casting for the auto industry and can do the job, but for how much?

Anyone else looking for the manifold and maybe the carb mount, speak up now.
JIM N

Jim,

Can you put my name down for one of each. Do they have patterns and working drawings of these parts or does somebody need to supply them?
I assume that the price depends on the quantity.

The business said it would take $15,000 to $20,000 for someone else to generate the tooling, before they even get started.

Where's Burt Munro when you need him?
JIM N

One of the serious issues for a manifold is the internal sand core for the passages. I told that person I'd thought about assembling copper fittings and cast them in if I made them.

Has anybody actually taken temperatures at the hottest point of inlet manifolds.
It would be a lot easier to make a prototype using a 3D printer. Depending on the temperature and the plastic used.
I was actually thinking of making a manifold to test a HIF 44 carb on a TD. I have already made a start on the 3D drawing.

Considering the intake manifold sits a fraction of an inch above the exhaust, a plastic manifold will have a melt down.

If it were a crossflow head, that might make enough of a difference temperature wise, but the next question is how would you attach a plastic manifold to the head and support the weight of the blower package, too?

I'm installing a heat shield on the latest engine project to try to keep the intake temp down. Will also be installing thermocouple inside the intake manifold and maybe one downstream of the carb. Already have exhaust thermocouple.

I responded to your email. Did you receive it?

If someone can do the drawing you could scale it up for the shrinkage and 3d print a core box and pattern for the exterior. I don't remember what the shrinkage for aluminum castings is.

approx 1 1/2% shrinkage
