Man, that's the fastest carb rebuild I've ever seen! Can you rebuild the rest of the car that fast? LOL. Cool video. PJ |

Coincidently I dismantled my front SU today to fit an oversize throttle shaft. It took me a little longer than MG LaVerne! When I got everything apart I found that the P.O. had already reamed the bushes oversize and fitted a +0.010 oversize shaft. Now to return my OS throttle shafts to Moss in exchange for standard shafts and a bunch of bushes for the throttle body I should have dismantled and checked before ordering the throttle shafts - As Grandma used to say "More haste, less speed" Now I have a three day hiatus waiting for bits from Moss and searching for the correct size of reamer for the standard shaft. The original plan - have an early start, dismantle the carb, ream the bushes oversize, fit the OS shaft and a new jet assembly and be back on the road by lunch 1955 TF 1500 9194 PS Thanks for the video for those of us in the Witness Protection Program who don't do Facebook ;-) |

I like the stack of tools in front of the camera, ever growing as the job continues. Very much in line with my experience that you need an hour to clear up all the stuff that was needed step by step while the work progresses. Rgds, Mike |

That was so true. I also had to put the carb bodies in the vice to be able to remove some frozen bits which was out of the ordinary from past experiences. Of course the video should have been titled carb disassembly. The bits are sitting on the bench waiting for the rebuild kits. I'll be picking up a rather large order at UPS this morning. ![]() |

Laverne. The prep looks perfect. You have done a beautiful clean-up. Can you tell me what's the yellow horizontel line showing on the main body. In the photo it looks like brazing. That will not work on aliminium. Sandy |

It's just some reflection Sandy. The bodies look perfect. I put this on face book along with a lot of other stuff, but I'll put it here as well. These were the needles that came out of the carbs. At first appearance one would think that we have two different needles. Not true.... both are stamped ES which would be a standard needle for an 1 1/4" carbs for a TD and not the 1 1/2" TF carbs we have here. It's quite puzzling what you find many times when you pull these things apart. ![]() |

I think that is just a reflection,, |

Quote "In the photo it looks like brazing. That will not work on aliminium." EndQuote Actually I have Brazed, Silver Brazed that is, Aluminum, using Fluoride Flux. I don't think it would last do to corrosion, Silver/copper would not mate well. Jim B. |

Ok Laverne rub it in with your amazing workshop. Some (most? :) ) of us just drool with envy watching going about all your work on cars! I have about 10" on either side of the TD to work, one workbench, and about 3 square ft available for posters and the like. Thanks for the informative videos! Keep 'em up. Randy |
