MG TD TF 1500 - Should this be straight?
The right side radiator support rod is bent (see photo). Should it be straight or is it bent to allow access to something?

I see them both ways. On my TD it is straight. BobbyG |

You need brass core plugs! See mgtrepair.net Tom Lange |

I bent mine to fit around pancake filters. Many people do this. If you have a standard manifold I don't think you would need it to be bent. |

Geoffery has it right. Anyone without the stock air cleaner and is or has used the pancake style will have bent or removed the rad support rod. Randy |

Original pics suggest it was bent ex factory though your bend does look pretty extreme. I only discovered this after I straightened mine. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

My car did not have the air cleaner on it when I got it. It had chrome air cleaners (not pancake). The PO moved the radiator support down by relocating the support bracket lower on the radiator shell. This allowed the rod to fit under the air cleaners without bending it. |
