MG TD TF 1500 - Side curtain materials
What material is used for the "Lexan" in side curtains? Where can it be bought without buying too much more than needed? Thanks |

There is no Lexan used on the original side curtains. Lexan also known as polycarbonate is similar to plexiglass. If your making up Lexan side curtains look for a retail plastics shop. I used to work at TAP Plastics in Sacramento and we would sell to order without the need of buying a full sheet |

Here is the original material for the rear window. I assume the same material was used for the side curtains? A Google search shows that it is still being sold in the UK and AU. ![]() |

I used 1mm clear vinyl from a Aus company called Clarke Rubber but it should be available from any marine upholsterer as they use it for boat canopies. 1m by 1.5m was enough for all 4 sidescreens and a generous rear window. I pretty much filled all of the inside of the screen as it adds a degree of stiffness.
Not sure you could actually sew polycarbonate. Hats off to anyone who has managed to get a good fit from a set of ready made sidescreens. I made lots of use of my industrial sewing machine making the necessary adjustments. Chris |

Correct. The original Vybak material was clear flexible vinyl (plasticised PVC). Dave H |
