MG TD TF 1500 - side screen socket
Does anybody have the size of the hole in the wood for the sidescreen socket. I have the doors with pilot holes drilled but the socket is miles away so I can't measure up. Ray TF 2884 |

The socket it threaded. My notes say 9/16-20 BSF. My TD door had a matching thread. Jim B. |

Thanks Jim, This is a new tub and doors, neither the door skin or wood were drilled, so we had to offer up the frames to get the place to drill. Finding the pivot points for the hood frame was the worst bit Ray TF 2884 |

Ray, I recently saw a thread (probably on the other site) relating to the fragility of the repro sockets. I should have taken more notice as I managed to shear the end of one of mine.... Chris |

Chris., The discussion was actually on this bbs td tf site. Cheers Rob Grantham |

Chris, I have BSF taps so I can part cut with the first taper to ease it in. The sockets are Moss Europe and feel heavy enough to be brass. If the worst happens I can machine new ones in stainless. Ray TF2884 |
