MG TD TF 1500 - Small rear tack strip help needed

The small rear tack strips I have have rounded ends on the section nearest the front of the car. Is this correct? My car is a 51 TD. I've checked Dave Braun's site, Schach's book and Google but the ends are the not shown clearly.

Tim, I don't recall that mine were rounded on the front ends. Here's an image of a covered one. I think that it shows that it still, has a sharp edge. Bud

Thank you Bud.

I have two examples. This is from TD16760 I owned in the late 60's. Does note appear to be rounded.

B Mooney

This is from TD16175 which I currently own. It is rounded and I believe it to be original to the car.

B Mooney

Thanks, I guess the rounded end was provided on some models. Now to figure out how to wrap it.

Sorry Bud my full message wasn't posted:

Thanks Bud. I suppose I could just square it up.I got the pieces from the Whitworth Shop and they have a really good reputation. I guess I'll wait to install the tack strips until I talk to people at the GOF Central this week.

I removed my originals in 1970 & they were not rounded, matching TD 16760 that B Mooney posted above. Cheers

If my memory is not doing tricks, I believe Doug Pelton has a great video on upholstering this item.

Graeme is correct. Doug Pelton has an excellent video on exactly how to fold the corners.

I think this should link you to the You Tube Video showing the tack strips and folding the corners.

Yes, I've studied Doug's video. But it is for a TC. The taking strips are totally different. With the rounded ends on the short pieces I don't have a square corner on any of the pieces. The side curtain box upholstery video does apply to a TD as well however, and it is excellent (as are all of his videos).

Just talked to Craig Seabrook of the Withworth Shop. He says the small tack strip were originally curved on the leading edge as shown in my picture. He's been doing T series bodies and wood work a long time so I'll take his word for it.
