MG TD TF 1500 - spark plug recommendation

What is your recommendation concerning spark plug on a Late TD engine?
I need a 3/4 inch plug
I found some recommendation for BOSCH Platinum +4 but no identification number.
What’s your experience?

I'm quite happy with the NGK BP6ES Bud

Hi Guenther,

I use Champion L86C, which I got from Moss (#152-110).

The ones I replaced (not because they were bad, but because they came with the car and were of unknown age) were Bosch W7 AC that also worked fine.

Just installed NGK BP6HS (1/2" reach) in my 51 TD. And as usual, when I install new parts, the car seemed to run better. Of course I always thought I was running faster after buying new track shoes. :-) NAPA had the plugs for #2.49 a piece.

Mike The Moss plug 152 110 is only 1/2 inch reach and he needs
3/4 inch reach Bill

On our TFs,I use Champion N5C. As has already been indicated, watch for the correct reach.

I guess 3/4" reach starts with engine # 22735.

There's been a lot of mixing and matching of heads and blocks over the past 65 years so the engine number is not a foolproof guide. Shaved heads with resultant higher compression will also have an impact of the hot/cold aspect and hence the choice of suitable spark plugs. Cheers

@ W_Mueller,
you are correct, my TD is 22361. Therefore I need the long plugs, mesured 3/4 inch

Champion N5C or Champion 123 is the resistor version of NGK 3/4". Not sure you picked up on Peter's comment, you must measure the threads in the head as so many heads have been changed you can't go by engine # alone. Too long a plug could hit the piston, create hot spots, and will definitely build up carbon on the protruding threads which will make removal very difficult. George

My 55 runs beautifully on Champion N5Cs. PJ
