MG TD TF 1500 - Speedo Question
SDear all, I have a dish faced speedo but the car should have a flat faced one. Can the "face plate" be changed? Thanks, Tom (It's in a "Y" type) |
Thomas McNamara |
Tom, My mate makes the dials to fit a flat dial to the magnetic speedo-see photo below. He makes them in MPH and KPH. Regards Declan ![]() |

The face plate can be changed, but there are differences between the internals. The dished faces were a magnetic speedo where as the flat faced were chronometric. So they are not interchangeable, |

Lew, That photo is a photo of a magnetic speedo with a flat face-I beg to differ. Regards Declan |

Note that on these reproduction dials the trip is at the top and the mileage at the bottom to match the magnetic speedo. Regards Declan |

Hey Declan, please contact me if the MPH flat face is available. Tom TMcNam4510@aol.com |

Tom, I have sent you the detail about getting the dial via PM. Regards Declan |

Declan, you have probably answered this before but I'll ask anyway. Does your friend restore dished faces or just sell refurbished one? In other words, can I send him my tach and speedo faces to be restored? Regards Tim |
Timothy Burchfield |
Tim, He just makes new dials and clocks. He is a retired clockmaker by trade. He does not restore originals. Regards Declan |
