MG TD TF 1500 - Starting Crank Handle
I would like to remove the crank handle, have it replated, and have the crank powdercoated. Although it rotates freely, I haven't been able to figure out how to remove the handle without mangling it. Anyone done this? Can it be done? Bill ![]() |

I polished mine and then sprayed it with clear engine paint of all things. Holds up better than clear lacquer. PJ |

If memory serves me there is a pin that needs to be removed. Check the archives as this was a subject of discussion in the recent past. Jim |

The rotating handle for my TF crank is missing, so I took some photos to guide a possible repair. Don't know if it is held into a groove in the shaft, or if it is crimped to the shaft, or something else. Lonnie TF7211 #1 (Top) - Don't know if this rotating handle has a groove, or if the handle is missing and the shaft was polished. Matthew? #2&3 - The rusted handle (or missing handle) on my TF crank. Similar groove as #1 #4&5 - Smooth and working (rotating) handle. ![]() |

Mine is like the last pic shown. There seems to be a ring on the shaft and something corresponding on the inside of the handle. Probably easily popped on, yet impossible to remove. |

The machinist got it by raising the lip slightly. Should be able to crimp it down when it is ready to go back on. Bill |

Bill - Now that you see how it goes together ... What purpose does the groove in the shaft serve? Lonnie TF7211 |
