MG TD TF 1500 - Steering Arm Clearance
If I tighten the brake backing plate all the way down, the steering arm won't clear the brake line fitting. My thought is that I have the upper trunnion perhaps one turn too tight. Any thoughts before I take these things apart again. The springs were a bear.

The steering arms on my TD angle downward, and center aligns with the bottom wheel cylinder nut. Could you have the R and L back plates on the wrong side? The wheel cylinder position may be different. George |

The plates are stamped LH and RH - not obviously, but findable. David |

I just found I did the same thing. The "extra" hole on the backing plate goes to the front on both the left and right plate. I had the plates or the right side of the car, but backwards. Hole was to back side. This messed with the throw of the shoes and would lock up. |

Also don't forget it is twin leading shoe, front cylinder points down. I have seen a car with TLS on the right and TTS on the left. Ray TF 2884 |
