MG TD TF 1500 - Stone Guard
Anyone had the stone guard film fitted to the underside of a T series car? If so has it really been advantageous? |

Yes! and Yes! |

efh, which stone guard did you apply? Under fender rust is becoming a nasty problem. Bud |

I used NAPA Stone Guard about 8 years ago under all fenders covered with my BRG color coat+clear and it looks like new to this day. Zero pimples on top of fenders so I assume its doing its job. Ed |

I sprayed it under the fenders and running boards and on the underside of the wood panels on both the TD I had and the TF. I found it disappointing. I have stars and bubbles from underside stone impacts. I wouldn't use it again. I would go for some heavy brush on undercoating if I could find it myself, if I was ever to tackle it again. I sprayed the wheel wheels on my present project with bedliner. How well will it hold up? I don't know as it will be a while before it's on the road. |

I used Schutz underseal, overpainted with body colour. It was sprayed under the fenders / wings using a special applicator. Looks Ok to me and seems to be long lasting. Dave H |

I should add that LaVerne drives his cars a LOT more than I! Ed |

I was thinking more of the "film" rather than a sprayed application. |

I just had my wings and wheel arches sprayed with Stone Guard. They were then top coated with my chosen color and cleared. I imagine that it will help with smaller projectiles. It won’t take big hits and I don’t expect it to. But if it helps to limit topside damage even a little I will consider the effort worthwhile. Bill Chasser TD/c-8151 |
