MG TD TF 1500 - Sure wish the factory had
I wish they had added T nuts for all the screws for the door latches. They have the back two with T nuts, but the front two are just screws. The problem with these is if you have to take the latch or lock off a few times, the screws no longer tighten. I have had to resort to gluing in ash plugs to get a tight screw. Seems odd they didn't just add more T nuts. |

You could possibly use rivet nuts and dome headed machine screws. |

The wood screws can not handle decades of use, they work loose and strip out. Remember, the T series began production over 80 years ago, with a designed service life of 7 years. Be well, David |

Bruce, I hope you used glue made from Horse's hoofs and not that nasty modern epoxy stuff! |

Horses hooves or hide glues are not waterproof or really even water or heat resistant, excellent stuff for Louis XV and Boulle furniture restoration but cars? Not so much I prefer epoxy for wooden cars and boats, West System... |

Good that you used plugs vs dowels.. the grain on your repair will be oriented correctly Regards, Tom |

I picked up some 2 BA wood threaded inserts. I am going to evaluate installing these in the A-pillar side. Screwed in with some epoxy, they should be sufficiently strong to keep the latch from loosening for years. |
