MG TD TF 1500 - T9 5 speed Reversing Switch

Does anyone know where a reversing switch for a High Gear T9 can be had? Part number? PJ

Paul,
I did not install a switch....but here are a couple links. 1st one has specs for Switch Threads It's in England...so Carraige will likely be as much as the Switch.

2nd Link is in New Zealand....but it lists multiple vehicles that use the same switch.

Here you go.....a little more expensive...but US based at Rock Auto. Looks to be Plastic....if you 'click' on the BLUE 'NS24' it lists many more veheicl applications. Perhaps you could find cheaper.

You need the wire tail connector too, the connector is round with tails existing at the side, but they're getting hard to find now I think, or force or otherwise fit other connectors, note the shape of the male connectors on the switch.

If you use the Ford black plastic saddle (or copy) they wear very quickly this red hard wearing saddle is a great improvement and gives a firmer change feel, but don't be tempted by the metal (brass) racing type that with cause a rattle. - https://www.burtonpower.com/hd-plastic-saddle-gearlever-to-selector-shaft-type-e-9-gbt9538.html

This kit, or make your own equivalent, will reduce the overlong gear lever travel but forget any thoughts of quick shift on a standard sedan T9 box as you'll easily beat the synchros. - https://www.burtonpower.com/quickshift-gearlever-kit-type-9-5-speed-ford-sierra-qs03k.html

Use the Redline oil if you want good cold start shifts.

Check the length, I've got a feeling there might be some variation but it might still fit and the variation might just be the threaded terminals (I forget now). The T9 boxes did vary a bit as they were in three basic groups of vehicles over here.

Sorry M Brand I didn't see your previous post as I was still typing my post.

Maybe try your local Ford dealer, I'd be thinking the mid 70s Pinto would be the same

Thanks for the info fellas, much appreciated! Willy, I'll check with a local Ford dealer and see if they have one. Thanks. PJ

US market was Merkur XR4Ti, see page 2 of Production section here - https://www.type9gearbox.co.uk/type-9-production.html

And Wikipedia also has Merkur Scorpio (but you'd be better at checking that fact your side of the pond). -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkur_Scorpio

Willy,
you might be thinking of the box going with the Ford Pinto engines.
Nigel Atkins

Willy,
sorry I misread your post I see what you mean, would the threads be the same for Europe and USA Ford.
