MG TD TF 1500 - TC Trans in a TD
Does anyone have any sort of plans for the necessary modifications to the transmission mount area of a TD for installing a TC transmission? I don't want to reinvent the wheel if something already exists out there. Thank you. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Tom, Contact thr MGVR racers on Facebook...a number of them have made the conversion. Gene |

I am not familiar with the TC tranny. What does that gearbox do for the TD? Regards, Tom |

Hey now, TC gearboxes are already rare enough. Don't go putting ideas in people's heads. ;) |

Tom, The TC transmission is more robust than the TD transmission...many MG vintage racers use them in their TDs. |

That's interesting. I thought they were all the same. Just the standard Nuffield box of the time, but different ratios used eg close ratio in MG, wider in Riley 1½ etc |

The TC box is completely different in shape and construction than the TD/TF box, and the TC box is considerably more robust. Virtually nothing is interchangeable between the two. Unfortunately, everything I have been told indicates that the TD chassis cross-member must be partially cut out, and a new bracket welded in for the TC mounts. Also, the drive-shaft must be lengthened. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

There are very few parts on the entire car that are the same between TC and TD! It's truly a completely different design, despite some visual similarities. |
