MG TD TF 1500 - td breather mods

I am looking for details on the parts needed to fit a PVC valve to a TD with a TF head.

J G,
Here's the valve that I use. They are quite expensive.
I use the Wolseley 4/44 side cover which has a better connection for the crankcase breather. I also make a thin rubber side cover gasket which allows easier installation of the side cover due to the location of the distributor.

I have also uploaded a workshop drawing of my installation. I tapped both sides of the inlet manifold and use 1.7mm restrictors in each line. You could just tap the inlet manifold and double the CSA of the restrictor. The actual size to be determined empirically as it is a trade off between rough idle and oil leak from the rear scroll. I run -120mm water gauge (-12mbar) measured on the u-tube
These drawings are available in a higher resolution should you require as the file size and format is limited on this board.
The Wolseley 4/44 side cover has an integrated flame trap.
I also have a spare one for sale but it needs blasting.

Here's a photo of the valve installed with temporary piping.

Declan's advice is good. Rather than tap the manifold, I drilled the carb insulating blocks and epoxied in some small diameter brass tubes to provide for the connections. I took the tubes to a Y connector and on to the PCV (in my case a VW item that looks very similar to the MGB type).
The main issue with any PCV set up is that they tend to interfere with the idling speed, i.e. increase it. This can be controlled by limiting what is in effect leakage to the manifold, hence Declan's 1.7mm restrictors. On mine the idle is still a little too fast, but manageable.

I have essentially what Declan has done but the piping is a bit different and there is a small pipe internal to the balance pipe to distribute the crankcase fumes.

I will say that the engine leaks very, very little oil now.
