MG TD TF 1500 - TD petrol tank leak
Just found out that the fuel tank is leaking, bad news, any idea of the cost for a replacement tank and who would undertake the work in East Anglia? Thanks in anticipation, PW |

PW Try Sports Car Metalworks based in Buckinghamshire. They make new tanks from original factory jigs. The current cost of a new tank is 335.00 plus pp which is far cheaper than any other supplier. They make a quality product that is easy to fit once you have had it sprayed. I have no financial interest in this company but fitted one of their tanks about three years ago. Regards Mick 52TD |

Don't discount a good panel beater's ability to cut out the rusty and pin-holed bottom, and weld in a new piece. I've had it done to three or four tanks, and they looked fine, and never leaked. Also consider lining your tank with one of the available coatings, to avoid future problems. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

PW, there are definitely people out there (check radiator shops) who can weld or solder just about anything. And when done, use a good coating, as mentioned by Tom. My guys cut the tank open at every baffle, sandblasted, resealed and then added sealant... it's perfect now! |
