MG TD TF 1500 - TD rear leaf spring pads
Installing the round pads between the leafs. Does the leaf with the spring clip get a pad? I don't have a hole in that one. The rivet for the spring clip is in the hole.

I don't believe so Bruce. Be watchful of the thickness of the pads though. Pads from you know who were too thick, thus reducing the eye to eye measurement. If these thicker pads are installed serious panel damage results to both the rear apron and guards when the rear shackle springs up. Check the archive on this. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Moss catalogue says 24 reqd, with 7 spring leaves that makes 6 per end, hence yes I will look at mine later to confirm, but I don't remember having any left over from the rebuild Rgds Mike |

Bruce, This section illustration from the WSM clearly shows that there is a pad. John ![]() |

Thanks John. I also saw a picture in one of my other catalogs that shows one. Guess, I will shave the nipple so it fits in the dimple of the bracket rivet. Peter. Trying a set of poly circular pads. They were included in my poly bushing and spring end pad kit. First time to try them so I will let the group know how they work. |

Well. It appears the answer is it does not have a pad. I installed the rubber blocks in the spring brackets and with them sealed against the bottom of the bracket, I could not get the bolt and spacer tube to fit. Even put a C clamp on the springs. Without the pad, they fit tight. |

Bruce did you happen to notice whether there were any punched dimples in the edges of your springs? Mine had a set of single dimples on the driver's side and a set of two dimples on the passenger. Each of these were in a vertical line directly above and below the adjacent leaf. I only became aware of them after I had mine sandblasted. I have no idea if this was the work of a PO or whether the marks were ex factory. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

I will check tonight when I assemble the second one. Could be so the PO could identify what side each leaf came from. |

Peter. No dimples on my springs. I did find these marks. Indicating my springs are original. Springs are dated about 3 months before my car was build.
