Here's an interesting site showing the restoration of a show winner. #8732 http://www.mgtd.co.nr/ ..... |

I was wondering about the stated year, 1952. My car is almost 3800 chassis numbers higher and it's a 51. T Register says the car has a build date of 3 July 1951. Must have sat on a lot for a long time. Tim TD12524 |

Mine was titled as a '54 in Florida til last year. The trouper doing the inspection changed it when titling to me. |

What did he change it to and why? What is your chassis number if you don't mind saying? Tim TD12524 |

28350. It was titled in FL to the 2nd owner in 1960 (whom I bought it from) as a 54. Likely a typo that nobody caught. I can't tell you about the original title. The state of NC sends a theft and fraud state trooper to write a report that DMV uses to generate titles for cars out of state cars >25 yo. They inspect the car, the data plate(s), paperwork, etc. I had to show 4 receipts when generating a new title for my 'glass hot rod last year. Engine, trans, frame, body. They then create a VIN plate for you or you can use the frame manufacturers number if available. If your car has a title, they're pretty much happy as long as the car hasn't been cut-up/glued back together from other cars. They're really after chop shops. I like the process, my cars are officially good to go. Each time, I had my title, reg and temp plate in my hand in less than 24 hours. ....... |

Thanks, very interesting. I'm facing a similar situation with a Corvette. The Ohio BMV is not always the easiest place to do business. Tim TD12524 |
