MG TD TF 1500 - TD side curtain box door hinges
I know I’ve bought these before but now I can’t find them. Does anyone have a source for the TD side curtain box door hinges and a part number? Bill Chasser TD/c-8151 |

I couldn't find any originals anywhere Bill so I took the dimensions of the hinge from an original TD side curtain box door to a big hardware chain store here and found a pair that were almost identical. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Thanks Peter I could have sworn I bought new ones when I restored TD-4834. I’ll have to see if I can salvage a pair off an old door if I have one. I’m not hopeful though as they have usually been in pretty sad shape on the cars I’ve purchased. At least I should be able to find one for a pattern. Bill Chasser TD/c-8151 |

I found a makers mark on a pair of hinges from TD-19408. “TC Made in England”. They still exist and have a website but nothing that is that small that I could find. Interesting to note that the 2 BA screws That went into the door had center punch marks next to the screw possibly to attempt to prevent them from backing out(?)
Both hinges were heavily rusted and frozen. I managed to get one hinge Working freely with the help of penetrating oil. The second hinge I’m still trying to work free. I will probably drop both in a bath of vinegar for the next few days to remove the remaining corrosion. Bill Chasser TD/c-8151 ![]() |

I received information from MGExp. The manufacturer of the hinges was Thomas Crompton and Sons. |
