MG TD TF 1500 - td/tf fuel tank
can anyone tell me the difference between the above as they look pretty similar to me. i am aware that moss give them seperate part numbers.need to know as i am buying one s/hand from somebody who is unsure of which car it came off.many thanks in advance. |

of course it is easier side by side but I sold my TD and only have a TF on hand. If I remember correctly the TD was deeper front to back and a slightly steeper rake. To make sure I had the correct one I had someone with a tank off the car give me a tracing of the side of the tank or just use the side cover to check it. |

David, they are VERY nearly the same. The best way to determine which is which is to take a known (TD or TF) end panel and see if it will fit on the tank. For example a TD end panel will not fit on a TF tank and a TF end panel will not fit on a TD tank (unfortunately!!). Cheers, Hugh |

thanks for that very useful info....still in a quandry as my side plates are currently at the chromers and the tank is 100 miles from me,any other way to tell? |

David, My TF tank is sitting on the bench so if there is a specific measurement you would like, just let me know. I measure it at: 34 7/8 across 20 3/4 top to bottom 6 5/8 deep. front to back ![]() |

I'm not sure if measurements unless very precise angles are given as well will help in the determination. As I mentioned the tanks are extremely alike and I have never been able to determine which is which except by using the end plates. Hugh Pite |
