MG TD TF 1500 - Tecalemit question

My 52 TD project car has a Tecalemit filter can. The photo shows the riveted-on tag. The question concerns the dished washer that was on it when I got the car. The Anglo Parts illustration appears to show a dished washer with the Purolator canister and a flat washer with the Tecalemit.
The next picture below shows the bolt, the dished washer and a flat washer. Now I'm wondering if I have the correct bolt. It is 4 1/2 inches long with a threaded section 7/8 in. long and 3/8 BSF threads. It takes a 5/16 W wrench. The dished washer is about 1 3/16 in. OD.
What goes with what?

Looks very much the same as my 1953 TD.

Go to my website and look at:

MGTD15470 » Engine XPAG TD2 15613 » Installation

and check out the assembly of the oil filter in the engine section. All the parts are there (including the little rubber gasket already stuck in the large washer). My bolt has a rounded end to ease engagement.

For the record, yours looks like a Purolator, the Tecalemit had ridges on the bowl end of the filter can.

Warmly,
dave

Thanks Dave.
But I'm pretty sure I have a Tecalemit based on the presence of the riveted tag and the letters you can just make out on whats left on the tag. See photo.
Also the top of my canister is not the same as yours. See my photo number 2.
So I am concluding that the dished washer I have is not correct for my filter - nor is it correct for a Puralator since it appears to be to small in OD and ID. I think it got incorrectly included with my engine by the machine shop that re-worked the engine.

Photo number two. The top of my canister.
(by the way- in above post that's, "...too small...")

That's a Tecalemit canister for sure, the same as on my 55. Purolator's have a decal, Tecalemits have the riveted tag. I used a thick O ring thicker than the depth of the recess and a flat washer, once tightened up it won't leak, just don't over torque it. PJ

Here's how the center bolt and washers were in my Tecalemit canister when I removed it to install Bob G's spin-on adapter. Jud

Here's the closed end of the canister. BTW, I defer to Dave's site as the authority in case of any discrepancies. Jud

I agree with Jud. This came off my 54 TF when I installed the Spin on adaptor

Thanks Jud and Rick. That confirms it for me.
By the way, would either of you want to sell tour canister? Your tags are in much, much better shape than mine!
B Mooney

Sorry, I sold mine a few weeks ago.
Rick

Probably, what's reasonable? Jud

Just to complement what everyone has already said---
My Purolator canister uses a bolt that has a provision for a snap ring to locate the spring and internal washers that locate and seal the filter element(groove is 2" from head of bolt. I would think the Tecalemit filter canister would also use this same type arrangement. Note: See Moss on-line catalog under MGA oil system because it shows the various parts of similar canisters.

Don't know what's reasonable Jud. Email me and let's see if we can figure it out.

I paid 40 bucks for this one. After cleaning and painting it looks real nice. PJ

Here's a better shot of my tag. Shoot me an email at jchapin3 at aol dot com and we'll come to an agreement. Jud

Bill when you get around to painting your Tecalemit the gold colour is on CC's site. The Purolater was painted green. Cheers

I don't have a separate dished washer on mine. It seems to be set to the canister. Probably a minor change. Same as Jud and Ricks.

At one time I had a name of a gentleman who made replacement etchings but alas, the email is no longer valid. They were very nice and came with the correct rivets. You just had to file them to the correct shape.
