MG TD TF 1500 - Temperature gauge
Can I install an under the dash new temperature gauge? If so how would I hook it up? |

TC, TD, TF? Easy in a TF, there is an extra hole near existing connection. Peter |

My TD had an after market gauge installed under the dash (screwed into the wood frame behind the dash) because the PO had snipped off the tubing to the original dual gauge. I hated it because it interfered with shifting. I finally had nossinger restore the dual gauge and got rid of the d@~ned thing. Anyway, the capilliary tube from the aftermarket gauge just screwed into the radiator reservoir just like to original. Jud ![]() ![]() |

Sure. I believe all TD's have the radiator plug for the thermostat. I am unsure if there is an adapter for the thread of a modern gauge. That is probably the only issue you would run into. |

For a more accurate reading during initial warm up, I relocated the capillary tube bulb to the area below the thermostat housing.

My ‘50 TD came with a VDO gauge mounted in the footwell….not very convinient! I made an alu bracket and moved the gauge under the dash. Not a single problem with shifting… Jasper Sorry for the bad orientation of the pic… ![]() |
