MG TD TF 1500 - TF carpet set

Hi
Starting the install of my interior. I had thought that my carpet set was suitable, but now have decided that this is the time to buy new.
Who has bought a carpet set this year and likes the quality and fit? What product is recommended?

I used the Moss kit a few years ago. It's pretty good. You can see my review and install tips here:

The real Karvel stuff is probably nicer.

Tom -

I installed the Moss carpet set in my TF early last year. And I used Chris Couper's carpet installation instructions. The carpet are good quality. The instructions are EXCELLANT.

The Moss carpet sale is in April.

Some installation suggestions:

1) I didn't use insulation under my carpets. I feel that it will only trap moisture and I can't see how a quarter inch of insulation will make any difference.

2) The felt padding in the Moss carpet kit insulates well. Trim and glue it to the carpet as in Chris's instructions. Lay the padding for the gearbox cover over something to give it the shape of the cover, then glue the carpet to it.

3) Don't glue carpet on the heelboard within an inch of the flange on the propshaft tunnel. Slit the carpet at the mounting screws for the propshaft and at the hand brake cables. This will allow you to remove the carpets and floorboards if necessary. The cover for the hand brake covers the slits.

4) Tip #4 and photo in the next post

4) Carpet Tip #4:
Attach some metal duct tape to the rubber underside of the carpet that is under the seats. Attach it under the seat rails and the cross braces. This will keep the rubber backing from sticking to the floorboards - so that you can easily remove the carpets when necessary.

Tom, I also used the Moss set and it came out pretty nice. The front trans cover was a pain getting tight, otherwise fairly easy job. PJ

Thanks guys.
How about Abingdon Spares carpets? Is their product different than Moss's?

The kit comes with carpet snaps that retain the front section over the seat section. These are well hidden in the carpet.

I purchased extra ones of these. I used them to secure the carpet over the rear compartment so it can be removed for service.

These snaps are also the only thing that secure the vertical carpet at the drive shaft end. I did also use snaps in the far ends of the vertical carpet to keep it against the step and yet be accessable.
