MG TD TF 1500 - TF Clock

What's one worth? PJ

I have one but I have no idea what it's worth. I don't want to over charge for it! A reasonable price is what I'm looking for. PJ

Paul, does it work?
I have spent $100 twice over past decade on my clock. It still works only intermittently. I don't think they were meant to last.
If it does work, I'd think $100.

Tom, I don't believe it's ever been oiled in it's lifetime, as it tries to run but after a couple movements of the escapement wheel it stops slowly. I'm going to get some clock oil and see if that's the problem. The works looks to be in good order, so oiling it might solve the problem. We'll see. Thanks for getting back. PJ

Plenty of posts on this subject, worn electrical contacts is a primary source of failures.

If you do some research you will find someone that both fits and supplies an electronic movement that resolves this issue.

I don't know about TF clocks, but is the movement anything like a TD clock? Smiths I think originally. Same as in a Jag.
These guys in England make a retro fit electronic mod to replace the carbon contact mechanism.
I have done my TD clock with it and it works all the time now. Still a little slow despite calibration however, but that is fixable if I want to change the spring position. A bit more fiddle.
The mod is not hard to do and the video they offer on U-tube is pretty strait forward.
Kit was $90.00 if I remember right but that was pre BritEx :)

Well, I found out that after cleaning and lubricating the clock with very light oil, it runs perfectly. Probably took a tenth of a drop to oil it with a needle point artist brush. No way of telling if will keep time as there are no hands on it, I used them on the TF. Think I might just keep it as a spare for the time being. ??? PJ

Three screws are missing that hold the works to the case, so it looks funny in the picture.
