Interesting to read these over but as one who spent 32 years in the warranty dept of British Leyland I know the times were pretty skinny in many cases. They were based on working on a virtually new car, with no rust, minimal grime and full shop equipment at hand. Technicians could make the time ( even if they did not take shortcuts) and they had done the job a few times, preferably once just a day before and moved up the learning curve.
