MG TD TF 1500 - TF Rear Spring shackle rubbers
JUNK, purchased from B & G, been in the car 8 months done 600 kilometres and they have virtually fallen apart, don't be sucked in like me and buy this rubbish. |

I've had good luck with the black Urathane rubbers. They look just like rubber, work much better and last forever. If you must have rubber, I've had very good luck with rubber products from Abingdon Spares. -David |

When installing these bushings, did you lower the car on to the weight of the springs before final tightening up of the nuts on each side of the shackle? If this is not done the bushings are twisted even before they reach their normal running position and their life shortened. |

David who supplies the black urethane? My new (Moss) rubbers are also cracking up & she's yet to be driven! Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Yes have installed rubber bushings correctly, have did this job many times on various vehicles I have owned and worked on, my old early Holden had similar size bushings they lasted virtually indefinitely. The composition of the rubber some manufactures are using is just a mixture of components, rubber and cheap synthetic additives which break down then you get the cracking and eventually crumbling and then left with the mess I have. The black urethane ones from Moss (or John James?) are the best ones for durability, lack of deformation and consistency. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Thank you Tom that's the way I need to go. |

I've gotten the Urathane bushings from moss for two TCs, a TD, a TF and an MGB. Make sure you get the black ones. They also come in red and blue. I am quite pleased with all of them. They should last the life of the car. -David. |

Mine like I said disintegrated would anyone have the actual dimensions for these rubber bushings rear TF springs, knowing that I may be able to source them here. Thanks |

Did you use rubber bushings or Urathane? -David |

Bushes are easy enough to make. I have home made urethane bushes on my Morris Minor for years. Regards Declan ![]() |

Here's a link to the urethane I used: http://www.weicon.com/pages/en/products/adhesive/2c-adhesive/urethane.php It is available in various shore hardness grades. 70 shore is a good starting point. Regards Declan |

Here's the first part of the mould for the kingpin dust caps on the Morris minor. The holder can be used for all sorts of bushes and seals. I will be doing the dust caps for the TD/TF next. The holder fits my mate's injection injection moulding machine. I will also look into the TD/TF shackle bushes. Regards Declan ![]() |

Another view. The core is centred on the holder. Declan ![]() |

Used rubber bushings David Regards |

Slightly off topic but is there any decent rubber out there for the front suspension? As Peter says, the current ones rot before the wheels hit the ground. They crack and split almost instantaneously. And the lower king pin one is a bear because you have to pull the backing plate off, not that the others are a piece of cake to install either. |

Traditional wisdom has it that the Abingdon Spares rubber parts are superior to the others. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Christopher, We hope to have the dust boots for the TD/TF king pins available in the next couple of weeks after testing. Drawings are already finished. The photo shows the second (female) part of the mould for the Morris Minor king pin dust cap which was finished yesterday. They are very similar. The same tooling will be used. Regards Declan ![]() |

Finished mould for the Morris swivel pin dust cap. I hope to start on the TD/TF caps next week. Regards Declan ![]() |

Anyone know the dimensions of these shackle rubbers, mine are too knackered to get an accurate measurement Thanks |
G Mills |
Hi George, I can help you with TF rear spring shackle rubbers. Cheers for now. Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

They have the same part number as the Morris Minor bushes-ACA5242SPKR. The spring pads from the Morris SUS712Aalso have the same part number as the TD/TF-ACA5138SPK. These Polybushes can be purchased from ESM in the UK far cheaper. ACA5242=SUS720A-cost £1.50 each. The poly pads cost £3.95 each. Buying Morris Minor parts is usually cheaper than buying MG parts although a lot of parts are common. http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=783_818&sort=3a&page=1&osCsid=cba39915c042d55db6fb8e67764588c3 Regards Declan |
