MG TD TF 1500 - TF side curtain storage lid
I have searched the archives several times for this without finding anything. The TF side curtain storage compartment lid on the inside uses a narrow black strip to cover the meeting of the vinyl and felt. The black strip is stapled over this joint to hide it. Does anyone know where a photo of this can be found and what size staples were original ? Thanks for any help in advance. |

Here is a photo of my unrestored lid. Staples are approx 1cm.

I apologize for hijacking the thread ... What is the correct thickness of the lid? Thanks, Lonnie TF7211 |

Thank you for the photos. My lid is 1/2 inch plywood. I assume it is the original lid, however my floor boards and rear deck were also I/2 inch plywood and did look original. |

Tacks are an alternative option to staples. Some lids have been replaced with 10mm ply and that means don't use 1/2" tacks or they will punch right through. Dave H |

I have a TD. I don't know about the TF. The TD has a felt covering on the back in addition to the banding. I would guess its supposed to reduce scratches. I did not want to use staples on the banding. I felt they would rust and it just grated my sense of what a finished product should look like. I folded the banding over the edge of the felt, securing it wit contact cement. I then adhered the felt and to banding to the plywood wit contact cement. I think it gave a nice finished look.
