MG TD TF 1500 - Tf side screen chrome trim
Can anyone advise me please on how to bend and fit the top trim on the rear side screens without buckling it? Dave H |

Its OK folks, I've worked out how to do it and done it! Small piece of ply and two or three short countersunk screws. Then lever against the screws (in the slot in the back) whilst holding flat on the ply. Inch it along and you get a gradual curve. Dave H |

Any chance you could post a few photos of the jig and it in action? I have yet to do this job and would like to see how you managed. I'm concerned as you were about kinking the trim. Alex |

Quite honestly a photo is a bit unnecessary. Find a couple of half inch countersunk screws and fix about 1.5" apart into a sheet of ply so the heads just remain above the surface. Slide the strip over them (the first is easy, but for the second you may need to lift the nose of the metal strip with a flat screwdriver. Slide along to where you want to start the bend and apply controlled force, whilst holding down firmly on the board. Once you have slight bend, slide the metal along a little and try again. With care you get the required result. It may need slight twisting to finish off and make flat, but easily done. Dave H |

Dave Fill it full of lead and it will be a piece of cake to bend. after it is bent run the lead out. the soft heat if you are careful will not tarnish the chrome. Do not use any flux. |

Interesting suggestion, but for me the method with a couple of screws worked easily enough and took a few minutes, once I had worked it out. Dave H |
