MG TD TF 1500 - TF Spare wire wheel
My imported from the US TF1500 has only got 60 spoke wire wheels and the spare only 48 spokes. Is this common in the US please? If so and I wanted to upgrade to the Moss type 72 spoke is the hub fitting/splines likely to be different than those existing? |

If I was you, I'd look at a t series with 72 spoke wheels on it, they look out of place, to modern! 60 spoks is what most fellas use over here, some still have the 48 spokes on their cars. Heres mine with 60 spoke wheels. ![]() |

Correct. 60 spoke wheels are what most use here too. 72 spoke wheels just look too busy and are not necessary for a TF. Dave H |

Fabulous looking car P.J. Mine wont look as good but will be fun driving it. Thanks to others for their comments. Only considering replacing the existing as they are showing some rust but as yet to "attack" with a good clean. Unfortunately it's the spare thats the worst- the 48 spoke. |

My 60 spokes are second hand from an Austin Healey owner who went to chrome. At 4 1/2” I believe they are the widest that will fit a TF but they do allow for a bigger variety of tyres. |

I recommend that you look at the MWS website - mwsint.com, though you may find somewhere else selling the same wheels slightly cheaper. If you need a tyre as well, you may get a combined deal from Blockley. Dave H |

Had a competitive quote from Rugby classics here in the UK who also said that they'd check out and sort where needed my '48 TC the next "project. |

48 spokes may be more original, I believe most people use 60 spoke, which is a bit more stable in turns. I also think 72 is too much for wheeks that size and the performance required. I managed to find a single chrome wheel for the spare while the rest is painted, which is more original. Rgds Mike |
