MG TD TF 1500 - TF Upholstery Details
I am currently working on the upholstery of my TF. The photos of the Original TF taken by Frank Cronan have been invaluable, but lacks a good shot of my problem area in the cowl (image attached). How is the round welt routed around the finish panel? Does anyone have a picture of this area from an un-restored car? Matthew, Colin, Frank, anyone? Thanks, John

John, Something like this? Notice the new type of hidem that Moss uses now. Tyler ![]() |

Tyler what's the width of the hidem on your kit, 1/2" or 5/8"?. If "the new type of hidem" is now 1/2" that's a step in the right direction from Moss, though it seems that they still haven't got the gap between the pre-attached hidem & the panel edge right yet. I understand that originally this was meant to be a uniform 1/2" everywhere on the car. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Peter, The fabric on the new hidem has changed. It's now the same as the panel fabric: more flexible but thicker (vinyl and fabric backing) and wider (see photo). The older stuff is 5/8" wide, but the new stuff is about 11/16". Clearly, not the same stuff. Tyler ![]() |

John, My original upholstery had these short pieces of piping with the cord removed and folded over on top, to finish off the top edge tacked on first and then the other pieces on top of it. JB ![]() |

Thanks Tyler. I just don't get Moss. With the hidem they've gone from bad to worse! Cheers Peter TD 5801 |
