MG TD TF 1500 - TF wire wheel hub + knockoff question

I have a 1955 TF1500 with wire wheels. I was hoping someone could tell me approximately how many revolutions the knockoff (nut) should make from initial thread engagement to fully tight.
I ask because last week I had some unwelcome excitement when the right front wheel came off at about 25 mph. Fortunately no damage or injuries. I was able to retrieve the wheel and knockoff (which was oddly still stuck to the wheel hub!-dried grease I presume). I was unable to get the knockoff to rethread on - Right front wheel - ccw to tighten. It appears there is some thread damage and I am wondering if for sometime the knockoff was only partially on (yet tight). With the wheel against the brake drum how far should the threaded hub protrude beyond the face of the wheel hub (prior to placing the knockoff nut)? Or perhaps the hub is even with the wheel?
Many thanks

I don’t have wire wheels so can’t help with the info.

But you have three other wheels you can check.

Glade the damage was minimal.

Pop off the other front wheel and your answer will be right there.

taking the advise of the two responses -
I measured the left front and there appears to be about 0.25" protrusion of the hub beyond the wheel and it requires about 6 turns of the knockoff to reach tightness.
I was reluctant to assume the other side was correct but it all seems good.

So I swapped the right front and right rear knockoffs and the front location threaded on properly
(6 turns) and the rear location (oddly?) went on well too (6+ turns). Yet this same knock-off when in the front wouldn't engage. I presume the hub is more at issue - but the right rear K-O worked great at the front.

I will inspect the threads further of both the knockoff and the right front hub. Perhaps a thread file can clean up the hub threads or
worse case a replacement hub. I imagine a suitable die would cost more than a hub!

Need to be confident of no repeat wheel departure!

Make sure the hubs are on the correct sides. If they are reversed, the knockoffs will definitely loosen and come off. Six turns sounds about right.

“The spinners on the left side of the car should turn clockwise to tighten, the right side should turn counter-clockwise.”

Think about this, right hand wheels go clockwise when you drive, you tighten counter clockwise.

It is possible for hubs to be put on the incorrect side of the vehicle during assembly, most knockoffs are labeled with side and UNDO direction.

With checking.
