MG TD TF 1500 - 'TF'side screen box hinge screws
Could someone tell me the size of the hex head screws used on the "TF" side screen box hinges? Did they use T-nuts on the plywood door? Thanks, James |

Even though the hinges are machined for flat head screws, 2BA X 1/2" hex head machine screws with spring washers, flat washers and hex nuts were fitted and painted upholstery color. Mike |

2BA hex head with nut. This is how it was when I took the car apart. Length unknown since its already on the car but as you can see in the picture the nut is almost flush with the screw. No lock or flat washer. Frank TF1414 ![]() |

Hi James,
Do not bother fitting hinges. Removing the screens from the storage box in a TF is a dreadful job made much worse when it is raining. If there are no hinges you can simply lift the lid out and access to the screens is far better, especially if you have used poppers along the rear of the hood. Unfortunately I only realized this after fitting hinges to my TF and having now dispensed with them I am left with small screw holes. I may refit them to just the lid and epoxy screw head in the redundant holes in the other half of the hinge to disguise everything. Jan T |
