MG TD TF 1500 - Thank You, The Red Car
I have owned a 1951 MG TD for 23 years and due to health issues finally had to sell it. I can't tell you how many times in that 23 years that that I have gone to this web site for help. A little research in the archives usually solved my problems, if not a short question always produced a positive answer and usually a simple solution. Some 60 tears ago I read a book that sparked my interest in MG's, The Red Car by Don Stanford. I can not read this book anymore due to my failing eye sight and the books fine print. I would like to give this book a new home and will mail it free of charge to the first person that sends me their address. Two stipulations, 1, must be in the continental US since I am paying for postage and 2, you must share this story with your grand child.
Cheers, Dave |

David, I am sorry about your eye sight and I’m not looking for your book as I have a copy. I read the original book back when I was young and always wanted a TD because of the book and my dad took me to a dealer that sold new TD’s where he had bought cars. I said I would have a TD when I could drive. I have had 3 TD’s over the last 60:years and my current TD will go to one of my children along with the book. I do hope your book will go to a well deserving person who will cherish it. I know how it was hard selling your TD as I had to sell my Healey 100 Factory M that I owned for over 50 years but my back could not take it but my TD is easier on me. A TD is a special kind of car that brought the sports car into our world. Best of luck to you.

Dave, I've heard of this book but have never seen it. I too am getting up there but I have a 7 year old grandson who loves to ride in TD8686. I would love to have the book and pass it on to Eli someday! Ed Haskell 2250 Cortina Ct. Grand Junction CO 81506 |

A great gesture, especially in today's "climate" of hate and violence. Love to see this type of thing. All the best to the provider, recipient and Eli! Peter |

What an amazingly kind offer! I have a nephew who I need to find a copy for. This is a good reminder for me to get off my rear end and get him one. It's the best book in the world for a car loving kid. |

A copy of this book was doing the rounds in the States a couple of years ago before it went missing. I was on the list but it disappeared from the chain before I was due to receive it. I purchased a paperback copy about 18 months ago from FTFU for $18.50 US and read it while I was ill with the flu. It was difficult to put down. When I Googled it just now I see paperbacks are selling for $99 US and hardcover editions for up to $850 US! Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

I don't have a grandchild yet, but this sparked my interest, so I will start chasing for a copy in the meantime. Great to see this kind of spirit ! Rgds Mike |
