MG TD TF 1500 - The interesting things you find during restoration
My car has a build date of Nov 1. 1950. That is a Wednesday. It now appears the body was build on Tuesday, Oct 24, 1950. Possibly by someone with the initials SP. I was sanding the inside of the rear tub panel and found this. Interesting in that is is down to the wood. So it must have been done in the fresh paint? ![]() |

This was on the other end of the board. I am going to sand the other parts of the board to get it smooth, but would love to preserve this. I was thinking I could use a wax bar to cover the numbers/letters and then spray over it. ![]() |

Bruce, Great find. I like the Floorboard T nuts as well ! Cheers Rob Grantham |

Having just covered this panel with black felt I thought the circular T nuts Bruce was referring to were those that secured the two brackets that the fuel tank rested up against. A couple of the slot headed machine screws were overlong and protruded far enough from some of the 8 T nuts, to give me some grief, so I cut them off almost flush. The slight bumps in the felt shouldn't impact on the removal and replacement of the side curtains. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

The fuel tank back bracket does fasten through the T nuts. On my car, the bolts have a hex nut on them. Very similar to the ones on the fuel level sending unit. Oh and Peter. The packages arrived. Thanks |

Enjoy Bruce. Happy to share another couple of pieces of the puzzle. Don't forget to sieve the flocking before use. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |
