MG TD TF 1500 - Tool box hole
This hole is in the bottom of TD1250. Does it serve a purpose or is it like the 4 holes on the back side that have none?

Water drain? |
James Neel |
The water drain does sound like a great explanation. As much as these cars leak that would be mandatory. Of course the off white felt in there will soak up about a gallon of water anyway. :-) Interestingly my car has mirrored holes for the jack stand block. I thought it odd that they would change sides just because of LH/RH but could not figure out why two sets of holes. I never looked at a RHD car to see if the block was on the other side or not. But my car is a late 52 (TD19629). |

LED, I can look tomorrow, but I suspect that that is where the bolt goes for installing the mount for an Arnolt heater. Bud |

Intersting. No hole for the jack wood block? Heater would be my guess. |

Never had a heater plus it's off to the drivers side. Holes for the wood block are covered by the wood in the photo. |

Possibly silly suggestion but with the old style batteries and acid "fumes" settling in the bottom a possible outlet/inlet for air circulation? |

Same hole in my original tool box bottom. My guess would be a locating pin on assembly jig. You can see how well water drained in this one. Only two holes on right side for wood block. George

OK. Forget my comment about the symmetrical holes. I cannot find any pictures to support that. Must be old age causing hallucinations. |
