MG TD TF 1500 - Tool Box Holes

My toolbox has two sets of four holes on the back side of the box. What are they for? Thanks.

This was kicked around here some years back. I recall the end result was that no one has any idea. The best guess was the same metal used in another car, or for some type of jig. George

Mine is older than yours Bill, and has the same holes.

Just for my knowledge, but was not the toe board Black from the factory?

I do believe the tool box stamping was used in other cars as well. The holes are not used in the TD. I should see if the same stamping is used in the YT.... just to satisfy my curiosity.
