MG TD TF 1500 - top frame paint color

Getting close to painting the top and side curtain frames. Is there something close to the brown color that would be more locally available from an auto parts store?

I too am getting ready to paint the hood sticks (i believe that is what they are called) and found that the Rust-oleum color 'Satin Nutmeg' comes very close to the color that mine were orginally painted...

Check your auto spray can provider there are colours available that are close to the original, saves having to clean a spray gun.

I used Rustoleum "Satin Dark Taupe" which is a pinkish brown color that was quite close to the original color found on my TF.
I believe TD"s had a different paint color from TF's.

Factory paint on my side screen frames (same on hood frame) TF1500.

TD's differed from TF's as Jim said. I bought a Stayfast top in tan & had some exterior grade oil based enamel colour matched to the top. I did have to clean the spray gun though. :-( Cheers

Last week, I painted the tonneau bars on the backs of the seats in my TF and touched up the hood bows, which are the same color. I chose automotive 2K single-stage acrylic enamel instead of rattle-can paint.

Perfect color match by the paint store (assuming that you have some color still on the objects to be painted.) The finish is harder, tougher, and less susceptible to UV damage than rattle-can paint. Easy to apply. Better results. I used a detail paint gun.

No runs; no drips; no errors. I'm happy.

Tom: Are you painting a TD of TF top frame with satin nutmeg?
George says satin nutmeg for a TD.
Peter says TD paint is different from TF paint.
JK says satin dark taupe for a TF.

Please let me know.
