MG TD TF 1500 - Trans and Rear End Value?

Well, the TD did not sell on eBay. Part of the reason was I was throwing in the stock working transmission and complete rear end assy so the price was higher.

I am considering listing the TD with a lower price (perhaps on Bring a Trailer and other places) and selling the stock working transmission and complete rear end assy separately. So can you folks advise as to the ballpark value of the stock fully functional transmission w/cover and driveshaft, and the complete 5.12 rear end assy? Thanks.

Larry, you might want to check with Dave Clark regading the rear end - daveclark4.3conversion@gmail.com Bud

Lifesaver Bud. I was just hunting for his email address as he is who I bought the complete 4.3 rear end from, and my 5.12 is siting in the crate he shipped his to me in. Thanks!

That crate was at my house 2 years ago. Couldn't be happier.

Doesn't he do rearends by exchange? He sends one and you send yours back

Dave took my old 4.8 rear and put 4.1 gears in it, what a difference! Of course I have a TF 1500 with a rebuilt XPEG engine in it, so lack of power is not an issue and now, first gear is usable. I also bought his new stronger axles. PJ

I think I bought mine from him on ebay. Don't know about "exchanges" Just trying to find out the approximate value of the original transmission and 5.12 rear end, both complete and fully functional. Although I value all input I get here beyond words, please lets not debate how Dave Clark's process works so I can get this info from you folks. Thanks

Apologies if I sounded harsh in my last. It's been "one of those days."

Larry, unfortunately with so many "T" owners going for the "upgrade??" of a 5-speed the original gearbox has lost value. I think you would be fortunate to get $500 for the gearbox and $350 for the rear axle.

Thanks Hugh. That's pretty much the ballpark numbers I came up with.
