MG TD TF 1500 - TRIPLEX logo on windshield on '50s cars
Hello, I am not a regular member on this list, however I am researching the TRIPLEX logo on the British car windscreens from the 1950ies. I have gathered a very good collection of information and logo samples, however I am still looking for TRIPLEX logo on windshield on: '51, '52, '54, '57, '60 cars. If anyone has an original windshield from any of these years, I would be most grateful if you could mail me a photo, or at least read what it says.. The date code would be below the TRIPLEX logo (encircled XXX) in the following format: L51V, L52V, L54V and so on. I am attaching a sample '55 logo. All help is most appreciated. I will be most happy to share my findings. Tadek ![]() |

Tadek email me on pjbm at bigpond dot com. I've done a fair amount of research on the correct Triplex logos for RHD TD's from 1949 to 1953. I have samples of stencils date correct for each of the 16 Triplex logos used on the TD. (One for each quarter). Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

I also make Triplex logo etching kits for both the pre war and post war MGs (except for TCs). The logo is the same from 1949 through 1955, except for the date. A sample is attached. The dots at the bottom are used to plate the quarter date of the glass manufacture date. My kits are $50 for the full kit in North America. I am unable to send the etching paste in overseas mail, so overseas cost is $5 less. Lew (at) roundaboutmanor (dot) com ![]() |

Tadek: When you get done with your research can you see what you would add to the compilation from Peter and others who have contributed here: http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_etchings.htm |

Peter, I sent you the CAD graphics that I made for the Triplex logo last year. You wanted to send me some stencils but they are obviously still in the post. Regards Declan ![]() |

I had them made in stainless Declan but they proved to be unusable as the font was so small it wouldn't permit either the acid or the fine grit to pass through. After much toing & froing over the past year, Mastercut in Brisbane have now refused to replace them. I'm now talking to a manufacturer here in Sydney who uses another medium. I'm happy to send you a sheet of the useless stainless ones if you like. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Peter-it's OK-I'm just pulling your leg. I would however be interested in the final version as my windscreen is a replacement without the Triplex logo. Regards Declan |

When they do finally materialize Declan, yours will the first one in the mail. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |
