MG TD TF 1500 - Turn Indicator Wiring Diagram

This question would be common to all T Series I believe although I'm enquiring specifically about my TC.
I currently have independent front turn indicators but would like to incorporate them into the "bullet" side lights on the guards. I am happy to retain the clear globes (not quite legal but better than nothing)so that I still have the side lights but want them to flash when I use my indicator.
It's taken me 25 years of ownership to get to this point!!!
Could someone please post an appropriate wiring diagram.
Many thanks

Peter, I'm afraid that's not that simple. Our TDs and TFs had turn signals installed as OEM items. AFIK, TCs can be configured with turn signals, but it's not a standard configuration. I've seen a TC turn signal wiring diagram. I'll see if I can remember where. Good luck. Bud

You will need to insure that your lamps take, or are configured for, double filament bulbs.
It is my understanding that the TC and early TD used single filament lamps and sockets on the forward running lamps.
There is also a "box" containing relays, that appeared after 1953 or mid 1952. This switched the brighter filament in the tail lamp from the "stop" signal to the blinking directional feed.
These are available from the usual sources.

Peter,
There are dual white /yellow LEDs around these days that have the relay function integrated, They ard white on and switch off the white when flashing yellow.
See e.g. ebay # 280961817785
When they are parallel to bulb indicators, you don't need a load resistor (normally used to prevent fast flashing). When alone, the load resistor is needed but can be located anywhere between the flasher relay and the bulb (wired from indicator wire to ground).
You need a double filament socket in your sidelights as Jim said, which is available as a straight replacement. Then just a 2nd wire for the yellow that goes straight to your existing indicator wire. Pulling that through the lamp holder is a major PITA, though.
This all works with negative ground only, since LEDs are polarity sdnsitive. But one more reason to finally do that simple conversion.

Hi Peter,

Go to www.S-V-C.co.uk and look at item 1130. This is a conversion kit for the bullet lamps that has two bulbs. One is clear for the side lamps and the other amber for the indicators. I have fitted these kits to my TF and they work perfectly. There are three wires coming from the new bulb holder. One is eath and is connected to the body, one is for the clear side lamp and is connected to the original side lamp feed wire and the last is connected to the feed to your flasher bulb.

Yes, they have the colors and are meant for exactly that purpose, but you still need the relay box to switch the sidelight off when the indicator is on. The Leds do that themselves

Thankyou all for your guidance. I'm now on track.
