I hope I don't offend anyone but this is the worst coloured TD I have ever seen. No wonder it didn't reach it's reserve. John...Sydney |

I know the owner can do anything they like with their car, but anyone listing a car and including how much they paid to "restore" the car and words like "Concourse quality restoration" and then painting it in a color that is not even close to an original color needs to have a reality check. I think Forrest Gump said it best. "Stupid is as Stupid Does" |

Needs at least another $10,000 to bring it up to concours standard. A total respray obviously & the interior trim needs to be completely redone if he wants a concours winner. Horns, rocker cover, fan, wheels, ignition switch, air cleaners, spare wheel carrier etc. The list goes on. I have seen one worse though John. It was on this site. From memory the body was purple & yellow! Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

The color is hideous. |

Gentlemen, to be fair it's probably not a bad buy depending on the reserve. The colour is not to everyone's liking, except if your name is Kermit! Probably a good driver and I know it has a few wrong fittings etc. The hood looks very odd but over here it wouldn't be up most of the time. If a car like this came up in OZ I would snap it up. Remember, we're here to drive them, not to have 'show ponies'. Don TF 4887 "Figaro" |

But with all that's said, who in their right mind would paint it that color? Takes all kinds I guess. Brings back memories of the John Deere color painted TD, green & yellow! Ugly. JMHO. PJ |

Paul, That TD is due for another appearance soon !! |

EBay doesn't lie. The number of times I have seen an over priced car not reaching its reserve is refreshing. Prices achieved at auction are the correct ones not those asked by dealers or over ambitious sellers or classic car price lists. Jan T |

Note they did not spend $40k restoring the car. The cost of such a restoration can well exceed $40,000 Also what's up with that stove top vent filter bolted to the exhaust manifold. My car does not have that! Was that a special factory feature I missed? ![]() |

Did you notice the bolt, stuck in the valve cover vent hole? Not good for cleaning out moisture, good for making sludge. Lets hope its BSF! Jim B. |

Also what's up with that stove top vent filter bolted to the exhaust manifold. My car does not have that! Was that a special factory feature I missed? Yup, Special factory option for filtering all the grease and oil floating around, just like on the Mrs, cook stove! A slight additional fee would get one with charcoal. Grin. PJ |

Actually, the "bolt" in the valve cover is a proper part if you run pancake air cleaners. It is sold by Moss and has holes in it to allow the valve cover pressure to be relieved. http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=32714&SortOrder=820#top The picture does not show the plug, but it is #70 on the list. Used one for years when I only had aftermarket aircleaners. As for the makeshift "heat shield" that one is interesting. Wonder if it helps? |

Just one comment. The two bidders were low bidders on eBay and probably got caught up in the bidding process. Looks like they did not win.remember it only takes two bidders to make a sellers day. Why do you think they serve booze at live auctions? Joe |

There were a few comments about the color of the car,, I believe that they just wanted to use a color that would compliment the rad hose stripes !!! As they say in the sometimes weird decoration world ,,, "it brings it all together" !!! steve |

Joe has made an excellent comment. If you want a good eBay price set the closing date as a Saturday at 9.30 at night. Just after potential buyers have finished a good dinner with a bottle of wine. Jan T |

Jan, What time zone ??? It's got to be 9:30 at night somewhere !!!!! |
