MG TD TF 1500 - Voltage Regulator

I have early TD with 9-post voltage regulator that may need replacing. What is involved in switching it out for the 5-post one stock on late TD and TF? I have a new one in stock. I see it is quite expensive to purchase a new 9-post one.
Thanks!

I thought there was someone in the MG community that could refurbish these??

Fitting a RB106 requires messing round with the wiring.
The bobbins off the RB106 are a direct drop in to the RF95 regulator.
University motors have a video on youtube "Repairing the RF95"
Simple job, all you need is a heavy soldering iron.
I did one last year, watching the video I realised that in the UK we say SOL dering, in USA/Canada you say SO dering. Another case of divided by a common language.

There are also companies that can take your 9 pin and convert it to a new solid state system.

As mentioned, putting in a 5 pin with fuse block is just a matter of adding a bit of wire.

Jerry Felper in Anaheim, CA rebuilds them good as new.

Why not fit one of the dynamo lookalike alternators that the Octagon Club sell. These make the regulator redundant and you can then hide extra fuses under the cover. The only way you could tell the alternator on my TF wasn't original was the terminal on the side rather than the end.

Thanks for input. You give me some great options.
Appreciate it
