MG TD TF 1500 - Voltage regulator; repair services
I have a 1951 MG TD. I think I need to have my voltage regulator repaired. I have read the Archives and I understand that Messrs. Jeffers and DuBois have passed. For the reference in the Archives to Jerry Felper at British Auto Electric, they have a disconnected telephone.
Is there anyone recommendable who is still doing this work? I have read the past posts by Jeffers and DuBois on doing the repairs myself but I have developed a bit of a back problem and am willing to have someone else do it if they are competent. I called Abingdon Spares but No Answer there by phone. Thanks for your suggestions. Milt |

Jerry Felper is still rebuilding them. Double check your phone number. His info is here: https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/garages/California.html |

Milton, This Lucas document is all you need to work on the regulator yourself. https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/pdf/lucas.pdf John |

I would not hesitate to recommend Mo-Ma Manufacturing, 1321 2nd St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Phone number is 505-766-6661. They repaired one instrument that I was sure was going to be trashed. I haven't a clue how they did it but it looks and works great. It would be worth giving them a call. Larry |

This begs the questions :- Since Bob Jeffers died, is anyone making a solid state conversion? If so, are they polarity sensitive? Planning to switch mine soon. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

I think that I bought the last one that Dave Ahrendt produced. That was a couple of years ago. It's still operating outstandingly. Jerry Felper gets my bet for best service around. Bud |

Gord Clark, I have a solid state one that I installed on my TD, it immediately let the smoke out and is now dead. Went back to an original, adjusted according to Lucas and all is good. |

Here is the solid state one that is branded as Lucas https://www.shopmetropolitanparts.com/p-2103-solid-state-voltage-regulator.aspx You also may want to check out Precision Power in Michigan. https://www.precision-pwr.com/voltage-regulator-and-generator-cut |
