MG TD TF 1500 - Water pump recomendations
While under the hood today, checking to be sure I set the distributor up correctly with the new wires, I discovered tell-tail yellow-green drops of fluid comming out from under the water pump pulley.
I know there has been a lot of how to on rebuilding. I see that the Moss Pumps need massaging to fit. I don't know if I am up to a rebuild, or how long it would take. A replacement would be better. AS may or may not be the same as Moss. About $54. NTD has a heavy duty one with a brass 6 vane impeller. Don't know if it has a fitment issue £60 + shipping Also they have rebuilt originals; £88 plus shipping. And finally FTFU rebuilt original with a 6 vale impeller, $249.. Which way to go? Leaning toward NTG of FTFU originals. Other suggestions? Jim B. |

Jim B, I installed the NTG 6 vane pump a couple of years ago and have not had any problems with it. Jim N. |

Hi Jim. You have mail. I've successfully rebuilt a few late TD and TF pumps here using a washing machine seal (about $30 AUD) and a new shaft turned up in stainless 316. The other components are freely available. An inexpensive and satisfying project. As you have a lathe it's well within your capabilities. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |
