MG TD TF 1500 - What gear oil
What gear oil are you using in your 4.3 rear differential conversion? Tim TD12524 TD26711 |

RedLine 75w90NS. I think it's what Dave Clark was including with his 4.3 conversions. Bud |

Thanks Bud. That is the question I should have asked, what did Dave Clark use. I used 80 W 90 Lucas Gear oil in my stock Differential but I've converted the 53 and 51 TDs to 4.3. Thought there might be a better/different oil for the conversion. I assume NS means non synthetic. Regards Tim |

Tim, RedLine 75W90NS is an All-Synthetic Formula. I think the NS stands for Non-Slip. Bud |

Thanks again Bud. Tim |

Tim what ever choice you make be sure it is soft metal compatible ie GL4. The spider gears within the carrier have brass thrust washers. They are NLA or at least I haven’t found a source for them. When doing several differential upgrades I found these thrust washers to be destroyed because of the likelihood of incompatible lubricants. Bill Chasser TD-4834 |

This product is GL5+. Bud |

Thanks guys. I'm going with Sta Lube API/GL-4 MULTI-PURPOSE GEAR OIL 85W90. Only because it is recommended by Dave Clark for the 4.3 conversion according to those who have his product. Regards Tim |
