We've got them here as well Tom, and people are buying them because they're cheap
Why would anyone want to buy one to support communist China.

There is hope, the new Cyberster in Shanghai

They are sold in the UK but I believe but they may be reverse CKD but UK posters can advise. I understand they have a pretty good quality reputation there.

The Cyberster actually looks like a pretty cool vehicle. Whether it is or not is TBD.

I am just glad the name MG is surviving. Even if they are nothing related to what we have. Keeping the name alive helps us with people who have no clue what an MG is.

As some of you may know, only a few weeks ago, I drove the new Cyberster- see pic. Indeed a very exciting car. 0 to 100 Kms/h in less than 3 seconds!! Yikes!!

However, I'm having a hard time warming up to electric-only cars. And expect a big case of sticker shock. The all-wheel drive model I dove, is expected to sell in the $70,000 bracket when introduced into the US in 2026 at the earliest.

Right now SAIC are going through the motions of setting up dealerships, a monumental undertaking. Probably won't affect me anyway, as I will likely be in the next world by then.

I think all EV's are too dear; so maybe by then, MG will introduce something affordable.

Call me a curmudgeon, but all these new cars (electric included) with 0-60 times well less than 10 seconds in my opinion are conducive to irresponsible driving. I'm already getting almost run off the streets with my small fleet of vintage British cars with less than 60 horsepower.

It's a truism that cannot be said often enough: "It's a lot more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow."

We (two TDs and one MGC) did about 80 miles in the NC mountains this morning. We rarely went over 50 and mostly were in the mid forties mph. Up and down, around and back - it was a real blast.

Just my preference.

Spot on Jud.

Once you have done over 800 mph over the ground, you are not impressed by some immature knob who thinks he is really a thrill seeker by going 100 mph in a 70 mph zone, zipping around the law abiding citizens.

Give me a TD on a lonely winding road any day.

I am not against it as a car, I tried it in Shanghai two weeks ago, I just find it ridiculous in this day and age. Speed limits are getting lower, traffic more dense, yet cars are getting bigger, heavier and much more powerful. Do we really need 300+ bhp cars. I can do a 350 mile drive in my TD, TF, E-type Jag, MG TF120 or modern Toyota Rav4 Hybrid, in exactly the same time, why, mainly because we have a 100kph (63mph speed limit) so were would all the extra horsepower get me except stocking my ego.

Not sure how much it weights but if they brought one out with 100bhp/ton that would make more sense.

Encountered one of these in London, as a cab. I did not know he was an EV until onboard. All is not lost as the driver explained his brother was beginning the restoration of an Austin Healey 3000.
