MG TD TF 1500 - What is it?
While crawling around under my '51 TD trying to locate an annoying rattle (it was a missing shock bushing) I noticed this bracket attached to the transmission. What is it for? Is something missing? Bob ![]() |

I use that as a bracket to hold the exhaust pipe on the trans. |

Exhaust hanger bracket. 1 clip plus a spacer. Ray TF 2884 |

Without the pipe being attached to that bracket, a lot of the weight and all of the twisting/torqueing of the exhaust system is placed on the manifold and studs. Definitely fix that. George |

Here is a picture of it on my TD. Its cropped from a much large picture. Perhaps it will help. Jim B. ![]() |

Thanks guys. I'll rig up a fix. Bob |

There is a very clear illustration of this on Page 38 of the Driver's Handbook. The copy I have is the 6th edition, AKD 618 E. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |
