MG TD TF 1500 - what is this?
I had my disassembled 1952 TD soda blasted and found this "watermark" on the front splash pan (apron). Any idea what it reveals? |

John Summers was the name of a British steel sheet manufacturer - based at Shotton if I remember correctly. Dave H |

Every part of my TD had a number on the bare steel under the paint. The numbers were not sequential, but close. I thought they were an inspection mark. I did not find anything as detailed as this. |

My guess would be that it is the batchlabel for the roll of steel as it was delivered to the body press. Very cool to discover such a sign from the past and confirmation of the gentleness of soda blasting. Thanks for sharing it. |

EDD is probably the grade of steel and stand for Extra Deep Drawing On this site edd is described, much too technical, but to support my theory. cdn.intechopen.com/pdfs-wm/30903.pdf |

Jon Summers was a major steel supplier based just over the border in Wales about 15 miles from me. A lot of my friends and relatives worked there, so nice to think that parts of my car came from there. Mind you it is a reflection on me that I live so close and speak no Welsh. Ray TF 2884 |

I found water marks on several panels as well but from a different supplier I posted them last year |
