MG TD TF 1500 - What is this for?
Some time back, a TD owner sent me this felt washer for my restoration. I forgot where it goes and the envelope is missing his name. It is 1 1/2 " across, 1/4" thick, and the hole is 3/4" It is not a felt for the front axle, and I dont think it is for the steering column. ![]() |

Either seal for early TD front hub, or gearbox tail shaft seal.George |

sounds about the right size for the seal in the tailshaft sliding yolk |

That may have been me. If so it was back. in April of 2019. It would be a felt washer that I found under the water pump pulley.Usual suppliers did not list them. So I made a few. I did send on to somebody on the group. But maybe not? Jim B. ![]() ![]() |

I thing that would be it Jim. Now I will have to pull the pump to take a look. It needs to be looked at anyway. |

Bruce, Jim, These washers are required only if you have the original type non sealed bearings installed on the pump. If you fit them to a pump with sealed bearings, they will just overheat and burn up. John |
